During discussions with the young organizers, someone pointed out that even though our subgroup champions the banner of “artificial cells and molecular robotics,” we still don’t fully grasp the complete picture. With various technological components advancing and a growing sense of anticipation surrounding this field, we believe it’s time to re-explore the diverse range of related research that falls under this term and examine the historical transitions that led to the emergence of this domain. We will hold the symposium “Traversing the World of Molecular Robotics and Artificial Cell Research” as outlined below.
“Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?” Just as Paul Gauguin once contemplated artificial cell research and etched these questions onto his canvas, at this symposium, we will welcome six distinguished professors who have been involved in the relevant field since its early stage and have firsthand experience of its evolution. They will share their research, the changes in their interests, and the processes that led from the field’s origins to its current state.
