As part of the JST-ASPIRE “Japan-UK SYNERGY” program, Professor Masahiro Takinoue (School of Computing (affiliation at that time), Science Tokyo), the program’s principal investigator, along with Professors Tomoaki Matsuura (Institute of Future Science), Takashi Ueno (School of Life Science and Technology), and Specially Appointed Assistant Professor Hiroka Sugai (Institute of Integrated Research), visited the United Kingdom from March 2 to 7, 2025.
During this trip, the team visited the following institutions, which are either current or prospective partners in the JST-ASPIRE program:
- Imperial College London (currently participating)
- University of Cambridge (currently participating)
- University of Bristol
- Cell Guidance Systems Ltd.
At each institution, the team presented the program’s plans and goals, and the meetings also provided opportunities to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration, particularly in the context of fostering global talent in the life sciences.
The UK counterparts expressed strong appreciation for the program’s mission and confirmed their commitment to continued collaboration.
Discussions included the mutual exchange of students and researchers, as well as the development of robust frameworks for joint research and academic mobility.
Moving forward, the JST-ASPIRE “Japan-UK SYNERGY” program will continue to promote international collaboration and nurture the next generation of researchers through strategic partnerships and academic exchange.
