Engineering sustained function in SYNthetic cells through enERGY generation, storage and transformation

Overview

As part of the Adopting Sustainable Partnerships for Innovative Research Ecosystem (ASPIRE) programme organised by the National Science and Technology Agency (JST), four faculty members of Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo) have been granted the programme "Engineering sustained function in SYNthetic cells through enERGY generation, storage and transformation" (so-called Japan-UK SYNERGY) based on a 2024 ASPIRE-BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council) Joint Call.

Based on this proposal, the programme will conduct research exchanges at biotechnology-oriented laboratories of Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge to support the research of postgraduate students and young researchers who aim to innovate in the biotechnology field in the future.
